To : Linda Shaw MD Re : Perphenazine Perphenazine has been studied in one patient. Infant was 1 month old, and the mother received 24 mg/day divided in two doses. The milk concentration at this dose was 3.2 ug/L. The 24 hour milk production was 510 mL; thus, 1.59 ug of perphenazine per 24 hours was transferred to the infant. This study suggested a milk:plasma ratio of about 1.0 . The dose in the mother was subsequently reduced to 16 mg/day...milk levels were then 2.1 ug/L. The dose to the infant was about 0.1% of the maternal dose. No effects were noted in the infant over 3 months of breastfeeding. Regards Tom Hale, PhD. Olesen OV et.al.
