Allow me to brag a little. I just completed a staff education program on breastfeeding teaching. I gave a pretest of 25 questions and the scores ranged from 31% to 81%. (It was admittedly difficult. A group of IBCLCs I had try it ranged from 80% to 91%.) After the inservice, the test was given again with scores ranging from 79% to 96%! (That doesn't include everyone who took the pretest-others will watch the video of the inservice and retake the test.) One score was 68% , but that person missed the first half of teh inservice ant the questions she missed were the info covered during that time. Several questions that had less than 50% right answers in the pretest were 100% right in the posttest. I had to talk fast and aqueeze a lot of information in 2 hours, but hopefully we'll be hearing fewer complaints from patients about conflicting information This will be followed with a clinical competence component where each nurse will work with one of the LCs and be checked off on her patient teaching and techniques in helping babies latch effectively. Sometimes those dead horses we've been beating can have a rebirth! *********************************************** The LACTNET mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software together with L-Soft's LSMTP(TM) mailer for lightning fast mail delivery.
