Walter Meyer writes:: >Ah yes. Demus (and you're right; it was Jorg, w/ an umlauted "o", and not >Georg) on Remington, the $1.99 LP that was the era's counterpart to today's >super budget labels. It was with Demus on one of those that I first heard >Beethoven's Opus 110. A truly precious LP! That brings back memories. Remingtons had noisy surfaces but some good performances. The Demus record recalled by Walter had as I recall, opus 109 and 110 on opposite sides of an lp. I played them on a Webster portable- in- a suitcase- player, and I remember them as wonderful performances- at least wonderful to me! I do not believe that any recorded performance of anything ever brought me more satisfaction. Professor Bernard Chasan Physics Department, Boston University
