Thanks for your two cents, Harry and Sarah. I vote that it be considered=
 at
least 4=A2 worth!  Your point is well taken. The point I was trying=
 to make
is that ultrasound could be considered an appropriate alternative=
 to
mammogram when breastfeeding is ongoing.  You are right, of course,=
 re:
going beyond just that if a mass is suspected.  This point was made=
 time
and again at our breastfeeding and breast cancer program.  The other=
 point
made was that whenEVER a mother feels a lump, she should NOT IGNORE=
 IT.=20

A good case could be made for EVERY LC teaching breast self-exam=
 as a
regular part of visits with mothers. It is not all that differnet=
 from
breast massage, used for other reasons, and encouraging every mother=
 to do
it regularly might help more spot very small changes before anyone=
 else
might. After all, how many busy mothers of (especially small) children=
 see
the MD for themselves as often as they do for their children?
