Hi, Paula! Nice to see your name on my computer screen again!

I have not done the Sanvita bit as it required more money to start than I had at
the time, and I can't imagine that I would get very far with it here where most
people are either farmers or factory workers who are not likely to have time or
support for doing such things.

The LC I worked with as an independent consultant in Atlanta had her own
"Lactation Center at Powers Ferry." It was a small office in a small office
complex, essentially 4 rooms: a (not too) large reception area with a computer
desk, files, table, a couple of straight chairs, and a comfortable love seat
(great for naps on slow days!!!<g>); an exam area that was just big enough for a
recliner, small table for pumps and phone, and a chair or two; a storage area
for all the pump stuff plus other essentials such as refrigerator and microwave;
and a bathroom complete with changing table.

It was small, but we saw moms there or at a couple of hospitals Sharon had an
independent contract with (one was the one she worked at part time as an OB
nurse), and of course at the moms' homes. There were 3 of us at the time who
would trade off being on for a day or so, and she has a part time business
manager.

Sharon went through the Sanvita program and was working on her first
presentation when I moved last summer. The nice thing about the program is that
it (apparently) hands you all the marketing, and presentation stuff on a silver
platter. The local reps were extremely helpful and even volunteered to go along
with her. The program may be expensive for companies, but they do get a lot of
followup that may make it worthwhile.

Another Atlanta LC approached Coca Cola with Sanvita and was turned down. Coke
opted to set up their own program, but I do not know how that has gone for them.
The Medela reps were pretty sure that it would be difficult to keep going, but
of course their viewpoint might have been a wee bit biased.

How exciting that the hospital is making room for you! Y'all must be doing
something right!

Melissa
