Breastfeeding is important for all babies but I believe that we have the
evidence to say that breastfeeding is MORE important for babies whose
mothers smoke since breastmilk can ameliorate some of the ill effects of
second hand smoke.
A baby of a smoking mother who bottle feeds really has a double whammy in
terms of susceptibility to illness (particularly respiratory illness).
I believe that smoking mothers get a very mixed message in terms of
breastfeeding and it's no surprise that many wean early. We need to be
clearer about the importance of breastfeeding for children of smoking
mothers.

My question to professionals is, whether you
