Magda,
But what does this mean about those associated w/ pump companies? The bottom
line is that the pump has greatly influenced the duration of bf in this
country. Is that not relevant? And it certainly wouldn't be in the best
interest of a pump company to educate mothers about LAM, ecological bf, etc.
And the push to sell pumps has meant many mothers buy them before giving
birth, thus use them, instead of seeking help with bf problems. I personally
stopped renting pumps when most of my calls were spent talking women out of
renting one and either referring them to someone or helping them myself. That
sure isn't what happens at the pharmacies! I realize an LC is the best person
to teach about a pump and screen out those who don't need one, but the fact
is it is an alliance w/ a company which benefits from our bottlefeeding
culture. ( I know this has come up before, but the "pump and put it in a
bottle" mentality is really growing!)
