Prematures and milk expression success (Smith C, Valentine C. Ohio, 
ILCA Abstract)
    Mothers of infants admitted to Columbus Children’s Hospital Main 
Campus Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) from August 2005 through 
February 2006 who received progestin injection (n=7) prior to discharge 
 from the delivery hospital were compared to control women (n=10). The 
mothers who received progestin injection prior to discharge from the 
hospital reported never establishing a full milk supply, in spite of 
use of galactogogues. This was echoed in lactation progress notes in 
the infant’s chart.  Difference in gestational age: 28 vs 32 limits 
interpretation.
