Just thought I'd let you hear an "exception" story--

I bf my first baby around the clock with no supplements ( of course the
hospital made sure he had a sample of its favorite formula while I slept but
not after I got my hands on him again). I started a period at four weeks post
partum and every four weeks after for six months--until I got pregnant again.
He snacked on some finger food at 6 months but didn't eat much til about 9
months. He went to breast milk only for several weeks at 15 mo when my
second was born. (He loved that plentiful supply.)

After second birth(at home with never a drop of formula) and nursing 2, my
periods started again at 6 months post partum with some spotting in the middle
of each cycle. This continued until I became pregnant again when second child
was just shy of two. I'm due the end of March '98 and still nursing both
older children. (They tell me the colostrum tastes great now--so much for the
theory that they wean during pregnancy because of the flavor!)
