Anyone interested in more info. re. Fennel?? I've got some info I'll try
to once again translate from one of my books about healing plants.

The part used for medicinal purposes is Fructus Foeniculi. Fennel is also
used in the perfume industry, in sweet cakes and liquours as well as to
spice up foods. It is used to help get rid of wind and related products.
It is always recommended in tea form for coughs.
It is one of the herbs used in a galactogue tea in Germany for new moms.

I have never heard of any problems in Germany related to drinking the teas
which anyone can buy at the store. As a stop-gap measure given to an
infant with a spoon - ok. But it is important to look at the cause of the
colic in a BF infant. And because fennel tea is part of the German
culture, it is given to babies in bottles and in large amounts. It is sold
in instant forms (like instant coffee), probably already sweetened, tho
that may have ceased. Large amounts served in a bottle does not constitute
a fully BF baby and the use of the bottle is anathema.

By the way, no one has responded with any scientifically studies about
various herbs as galactogues. Are there any?? (I do have one from an
Egyptian re. fenugreek, but I would appreciate more!!)-
