The cost of donor milk is for the screening and processing, not the milk
itself.  And it's quite low compared to processing other donor tissue such
as bone, liver, and heart.  (I checked this out with our local blood &
tissue bank recently.)

Personally, I think the price of donor milk is a fabulous bargain for this
miraculous food + medicine + immune booster + anti-inflammatory agent. And
many insurance companies will pay for it when prescribed by a physician.
Getting the baby's physician clued in to the immense value of donor milk is
often the hard part.

I just heard a wonderful talk by Jane Heinig PhD, who (among other things)
said that every hospital in her area (Davis CA) uses human milk for all
babies who need supplementation in the hospital - either mother's own milk,
or donor milk from a milk bank. If one city can do this....
