Here we go again-another
"... perfect baby bottle for transitioning between breastfeeding and after
breastfeeding to help you give baby more of the good stuff longer"???  (quote
from the product's website)
 Give me a break!
I hesitate to quote the article lest it be taken as promoting or endorsing the
product, but I think we need to be aware of what's being promoted to moms.  It
really bugs me that one of our own is in the middle of this misleading
publicity.

"NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 16, 2011 ...-- Across the US and Canada, new moms are
being introduced to a new type of baby bottle.  Lactation specialists, nurses,
and physicians are introducing the mimijumi "Very Hungry" bottle as an easier
means to breastfeed longer."

Easier to breastfeed longer?  Where is the evidence?

"......... a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation
Consultant, owns .... a breastfeeding and baby boutique ....... She states that
mimijumi's "Very Hungry" baby bottle "is so breast-like in appearance, that when
Mom starts with the "Very Hungry" bottle, babies are less likely to have a
problem transitioning between breast and bottle."

again-evidence?

"For thirteen years,......has worked with mothers and their lactation needs.  In
2005,.... opened her ...... retail store.
When describing the advantages of the "Very Hungry" baby bottle, .... remarked,
"I've had success with this bottle, even with babies up to 7 months old."  She
recommends it for not only bottle-picky babies, but for all newborns as an aid
to prolonging breastfeeding, a natural way to enhance immunity, and prevent
obesity and diabetes later in life."

all newborns?  even those who have no need for using a bottle?  Sure

".... describes the nipple on the mimijumi bottle as, "more like a breast so the
baby latches onto the nipple, as they would latch onto the breast.  This is why
they will do better going between the breast and the bottle when using the
mimijumi."  She also notes that the baby must latch to make the mimijumi bottle
express milk. "

haven't we already seen that simply making the area beyond the teat bigger
doesn't really function more like the breast?

"Dr......, president of................ "We designed and created a bottle that
appeals to today's modern family.  The 'Very Hungry' bottle enhances the
critical physical and emotional bonding."

Right-the modern family wants to remove itself from direct contact with the
baby-unfortunately, this is too often true

"Free of BPA and phthalates, the nylon bottle is easy to clean, has a wide mouth
for easy filling, a screw on one-piece nipple, and a non-skid base.  The soft
silicon nipple is textured and colored to resemble skin, and includes an
integrated ventilation system to aid in the baby's digestion."

Does this mean you can get it in as many colors as there are shades of human
female skin?

"The "Very Hungry" baby bottle and nipples are available in retail stores in the
US and Canada as well as online.
(the company) ...was founded in 2008 by a team of psychiatrists and designers
with a goal of creating infant care products that revolutionize the parenting
process."

So psychiatrists are now experts on how the breast works?  It's not the
parenting process, but our approach to parenting that promotions such as this
are trying to "revolutionize".  What we need is to rediscover the age-old
natural parenting process.
I will not give further validity for this by including the web address for this
product.  You can find it easily with any search engine.
Dare I even wonder "What next?"
