Many children with sensory integration problems will self-regulate this way,
or in other sensory seeking ways. My son (has autism, but this is not
confined to children w/autism) liked to swing. As he got older, that need
diminished. Others will jump, run, chew, etc. A good book for learning more
is "The Out of Sync Child" by Carol Stock Kranowicz.
