IS the gag reflex of an infant different to the gag reflex of an adult?

I ask because several texts state the gag reflex disappears around 3
months of age, some say 6 months. I don't know a single adult or child
for that matter that doesn't gag when the situation calls for it, so are
these reflexes different? Are they stimulated at a different point? Many
thanks, Meg Kingsley
