Hi All! I'm new on the net. I live in Upstate NY, LLL Leader, 8 years,
IBCLC, 3 yrs. I received this info at the LLLI Conf. and it also appears in
the new issue of L_____, a Leader journal. I have 2 children ages 11 and 8.
My husband, Stu, is a veterinarian, hence my net address!

I asked Stu for the "scoop" on this sugar thing. He said that in very high
concentrations sugar is highly osmotic and "crenates" (sucks water out of)
bacteria and kills it. Vets sometimes use it to shrink prolapsed tissue,
such as eyeballs and uteruses, which can then be reinsterted. (This is gross
- sorry!) However, with new drugs on the market it isn't used as much now.

At the LLLI Conf., Sue Huml stated that petroleum was "occlusive" and
"comedogenic" (clogs pores). In addition, I would feel uncomfortable
recommending it, as I wouldn't want baby to ingest it. I have had great
success with L_______ the highly purified form of lanolin. What do you
think?

Bye for now, Carrie
