If I had broken skin on our finger and put said finger into someone's mouth
for them to suck on for a while, I think I'd wash it off afterwards to make
sure germs hadn't contacted the broken skin. That is why saline soaks are
good. They cleanse. I just suggest a pinch of salt and some warm water and
a couple of swishes. Then I apply topical antibiotic cream and antifungal
cream, and perhaps a bit of cortisone ointment. Do this for a few days and
mom is immensely better. If not, she needs oral antibiotic and stronger
antifungal tx.
