I am an IBCLC who is pursuing doctoral studies in family and child
development. My areas of interest are prepregnancy education and beliefs,
transition to parenthood and the effects of labor and breastfeeding
experiences. I have managed to convince my professors that prepregnancy
attitudes of young women and men are interesting and useful areas of research.

So... I have an opportunity to measure bfeeding attitudes via questionnaire,
interview, etc. I lecture in a human sexuality class and have gotten some
feel about the level of knowledge college students have regarding bfeeding.
What I am asking for help in is what do you (as professionals) want to know?
This is a fairly conservative, middle class population of students aged
19-24 from both urban and rural areas.

I know that there has been research on prepregnancy beliefs but I believe
that this may be an opportunity to develop some longitudinal studies and
follow some of these students through their first pregnancies. I am VERY
EXCITED about the possibilities and would welcome suggestions and comments.
Private e-mail may be better to avoid cluttering the list but I will give
periodic updates on progress if there is interest.

Thanks,
Wendy
