Golly, Catherine, that reminds me of another time I was blessed with psychic
powers...

A friend and I were expecting at the same time. Our first babies. Our
husbands worked together, 12-hour shifts, 6-days/week. They car-pooled
together, and the daily commute was 1 hour each way. Basically, they came
home, showered, ate, and went to bed, only to get up again and go to work.

I decided to breastfeed, she decided to formula feed. She thought since we
both had cesarean births, she needed her sleep, and her husband would be
happy to "help out."

My prediction? You don't have to be told...

It worked out well for about 2 weeks. When her husband was nearly dying from
exhaustion, he refused to get up at night and do the feedings.

Nobody took care of either one of us, but I was getting rest at night,
laying in bed, feeding my baby.

Now, if I could only channel my psychic powers into finding my *%&#($% ACT
scores to submit to that @($*^ nursing school...

Best wishes,

<<Many years ago, when I was teaching Childbirth Preparation classes, I had
a mom in my class who seemed to have the fantasy that if she had a Cesarean,
people would take care of her. I did try to address this in class, but she
wasn't "buying" it. It didn't require psychic powers to see her future: yes,
she had a Cesarean, and was very disappointed that her non-nurturing family
did NOT take care of her.

What a sad place to start caring for a new human being from.
