Dear Wise Ones,
      I'm wondering if any of you have seen what I've been seeing with this
new 'low estrogen' combination birth control pill!   For many years now the
Docs in our area have been totally on board with the idea that if a mother
is breastfeeding, she should still with the Progestin-only pills so as not
to compromise her milk supply. 
      Now, all of a sudden, over the past several months I've seen almost a
dozen women whos Dr.'s (not all the same one!) have Rx'd this Loestrine pill
... and they've all been told the same thing, verbatim!!  (Somewhere a Rep.
has done a very thorough job!!)  They all come in telling me their Dr.s told
them:

1) Only 5% of breastfeeding women have a supply problem using this pill

2) IF you are one of the 5%, your milk will come back within 2 weeks of
stopping the pill!

ALL have been told this!!  The really interesting thing is, EACh and EVERY
one of these women have then had drastic milk supply drops!!   Now, granted,
many of these women CAME to me because their milk had dropped -- they were
seeking herbs, etc. to help with their supply... but I've had several women
that I've been working with since the beginning who THEN started on this
pill... and have watched their supplies crash!   One mom in particular was
struggling with over-supply, so she didn't see anything wrong with trying
this pill, especially after what the Dr. said.  That was one month ago. 
She's discontinued the pill now, and is pumping like crazy just trying to
regain a normal supply.

Have any of you worked with moms who have been given this info?  Does anyone
know what's going on with this, and why all the Dr.s are suddenly so
enamored with this pill??
