Obviously the hand out needs to be changed. The statement that bottle
feeding does not harm your baby is surely false. That is probably in there
just to treat the doctor for the "I don't want to make them feel quilty
syndrome" A better statement in a pro BF fashion addressing the same topic
might say," Although BF does not guarantee the health of your baby, research
clearly supports the position that BF babies tend to have less disease, less
illness and better mental and behavioral development than those that receive
formula. Suggest the doctor give out a hand out from LLL or the copy from
the Ackerman article I mentioned in a prior lactnet article.

PS Congratulations to my wife, Becky Ahrendsen, who today received notice
that she passed the LC exam! HURRAH, HURRAH, HURRAH!!!. Now we plan to
approach our small 35 bed hospital to convince them to offer formal LC
services to the moms that deliver here. If anybody has some words of wisdom
for her and how she shoulc approach the hospital, Please send US some private
email on tips to do and pitfalls to avoid. TIA
