Last week my daughter and I went to the movies to see Black Balloon, an Australian movie. The movie itself is about a 15 yo boy whose older brother has severe autism (very well done, there's been plenty of personal experience go into this film) but there is a delightful scene that I am sure many here on Lactnet would appreciate. During a birthday meal the mother, who has a new baby, picks her up and breastfeeds her. The boy, who has his girlfriend there gives his mum a dirty look and then she launches into him in a friendly way saying things like "Well she's hungry, I need to feed her, what's your problem" and then "I breastfed you you know" "You loooved it too" (as the teenager squirms). It really is the sort of conversation that I think many of us have probably had and it was a very nice normalisation of breastfeeding.
The credits has the "breastfeeding double" listed.
