I had just got my son down for a nap and sat down for a fleeting moment and
was flipping the channels on TV and I stopped b/c a mom with triplets caught
my eye. She was on the new show with Richard Simmons "Dream Maker" and was
talking about her daughters terrible struggles with reflux. She had said
that the doctors had tried medications, surgery and were basically sending
the child home to starve to death b/c nothing was working. Her mother
mentioned that breastmilk would be good for the child and knew a friend of a
friend who was weaning her own child. This lady donated her breast milk to
the sick little girl, who had the same name as her own daughter that she was
weaning (looked pretty young to be weaned) and the sick little girl started
to thrive! The parents made the point that breast milk saved their childs
life! They introduced the two and gave each mom a gift. The mom of the sick
child has 6 kids and they gave her 6 months of a house cleaning service,
sounds great to me! I don't think anyone tried to get the first mom to
re-lactate, can't imagine how helpful that would have been for the little
girl to have that contact, but every positive story in the public eye helps!
