I need back up.  I have a staff member that feels if the patient is using a nipple shield that is the same as giving the infant a bottle.  What evidence based information is out there for me to use in the meeting with her and our manager?  Let's say the mother is using a nipple shield for inverted nipples.  The doctor wrote an order to supplement, so the nurse gave the supplement with a bottle.  The family had given consent to the supplement "if needed" but did not know it was given via bottle.  This happens more frequently than you can imagine but it has come to a boiling point.  I will take any information.  Muscle movements to drink from the breast vs muscle movements to drink from a bottle etc... Thanks.
