I think it's time we all admitted the truth about weaning practices.

It's all very well talking about all those hours you put into making 
those nice wholesome veggie mashes.

But honestly, you know, and I know, that baby's first food was rarely 
anything so civilised.

Mine, for instance.. his first food was fatty oven sludge from the 
bottom of the oven. And my friend, her little boy's first food was a 
pellet of dried cat poo!  Made all the more horrific for the fact that 
they were visiting friends, and the friends didn't have a cat!

I have heard of dried up hoover flies being another baby's first food.  
And my other friend knew her calender had been her baby's first food, 
when she found the bits, still identifiable, in his nappy!

Bah humbug!  :-)
