Dear all:

I was given permission to post the following information:

***************************
GAIN has working partnerships with Groupe Danone/Dannon in USA. Danone/Dannon is
an infant formula maker in Europe and a WHO Code violater. They will be fortifying
yogurt in Bangladesh. Dannon uses gmo bacteria for their yogurts. Cargill is another
major partner. Tetra Pak (aseptic packaging)...Tetra Pak of Canada's commercial partner
is Nestle.

See http://www.gainhealth.org/gain-partnerships

Since 2005 Gates Foundation has investments of $26 million in Nestle. Also interesting
that since 2005, they have a $2.2 billion investment in sup-prime loan companies or
securities. See: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/

Jay Gordan has also has a reference on the Gates connection with Nestle on his blog at
the Huffington post.

****************************
I went to the GAIN website and briefly lurked around in some of the details.

In addition, having worked in that world, GAIN misrepresents the current state of the art
in behavior change for improving diets. There are many organizations that have adopted
far smarter strategies than the previous nutrition education. So, in order to promote
themselves they denigrate those who implement solutions that will likely have a much
wider impact on nutrition than a single nutrient or group of a few nutrients. The NYTimes
Sunday magazine section did an excellent article on this problem called the "Nutrification
of Foods". Even though the article applied to the US, it still is just as relevant.

If you look closely at what appears to be a good idea in Bangladesh because it involved
women requires further investigation. Are they actually helping the Bangladeshi's to
fortify their own yogurt or creating a market for Danone/Dannon and the multinational
supplement industry?

As I've said before, you really should look a gift horse in the mouth.

Best, Suasn Burger
