Why do you automatically think it is something wrong with mom's milk? Maybe it's baby's intestines that are problem :-(
 Possibly blood in infant's intestinal tract (allergy to something in mom's milk-cow's milk first suspect)
possible partial intestinal obstruction in infant, so meconium not completely passed
Is baby's weight gain appropriate? Belly soft with normal bowels sounds or distended? Pat in SNJ

I need some help figuring out potential causes of brown stools (no yellow) in an 2 week + exclusively BF baby. Here is my list. Please add to it to fill in what I may be missing or what doesn't belong.

* Blood in breastmilk/nipples
* Medication? (can certain meds/herbs affect stool color?)
* food allergy
* vitamins/iron
* supplementation in first days PP

How significant would you rate brown stools in the scheme of information, making the assumption that breastfeeding in not going as well as it should? Would you point it out to the pediatrician?
