Hi All,

Just back a few hours ago from ILCA and the exam. I am tired and doing a
presentation to a community health center in Chinatown in the a.m.

I am so thrilled to have been at the ILCA Conference.
Besides all the wonderful things I learned at sessions with Marsha Walker and
Barbara Heiser and Barbara Wilson Clay and Diane Weissinger and Janet Kinney
and Jan Ellen and Liz Brooks (and her hats) and Terri Lee and Audrey Naylor
and John Mann (apologies for misspellings) I learned that the people in this
profession are passionate, funny, generous and humble. Sitting next to people
like Linda Smith, Nancy Mohrbacher and Kay Hoover and having a mutually
respectful conversation just awed me.
I have the good fortune to have Catherine Watson Genna in my life and we had
breakfast and lunch together the day of the exam. Thank you Cathy!
I found no huge egos. I found support and encouragement. In my passion to
grow and learn in this field( and to get CERPs) I have attended several
regional breastfeeding conferences and I have learned so much from the
speakers. I believe we need these conferences to keep current and to
reconnect.
It was a big expense for my family and me but it was well worth it.

Now I am wondering: do I still feel good for saving $9 for two playtex
insulated sippy cups I was thinking of buying for Chloe that I got free at
ILCA or do I feel guilty? Well, I can't think about it now. I have to prepare
for the Docs who want to know how to promote breastfeeding in the Chinese
community.

Good night y'all!
