I have been around Lansinoh ever since it hit the market years ago. In the
last month, I got 2 mother complaints about their nipples "burning and itching"
after they applied Lansinoh. When they discontinued useage, the burning
went away. Both these moms' babies were under 48 hours old. We use the
small tubes of Lansinoh in the hospital and no longer give out the little samples
that come on the LLLI handout on sore nipples.
I had never before encountered an apparent "allergy" to Lansinoh. Does
anyone know when the reformulated stuff hit the market? I think we still have
the old stuff - yellow in color, greasy, with a definite taste, and a smell similar
to Vaseline (which is a petroleum product). The tube I just tasted has an
expiration date of 4/10, so I tend to think it is a newer batch.
