Dear Barbara,

I am a lactation consultant in Honolulu Hawaii with the Kaiser
Permanente Health Care System.

I have a patient who was recently diagnosed with
autism. The child is almost 3 years old and the mother breastfeeds
at least 4 or more times a day.

The mother now wants to put the child on a diet of glutein free/casein
free and she wants to go on it herself. I am concerned about the lack of
calcium in her diet but that can be substitued in pill form. I have
read at Autism Net for Dietary Intervention that human casomorphin is
similar to casein in other mammals.

What has your research and investigations shown?

      Thank you in advance.
      Sincerely, Pat Bilyk
