One might argue that "discretion and decorum" are acceptable expectations when they are the mother's expectations 
for her own body. Even then, it is possible to help her release restrictive cultural beliefs that impede her ability to 
breastfeed successfully through both education and example. Often women who imagine they will be uncomfortable 
feeding in public are only uncomfortable because of the restrictive attitudes of others, not their own inherent beliefs.
What is implied in the above comment, however, is that it is acceptable for others to have such expectations. The word 
decorum means  "appropriateness of behavior or conduct; propriety". Who determines the
appropriateness of another's behavior? We will never be a breastfeeding culture so long as we restrict women to special
locations, special clothing  and special rules of "decorum" when feeding our babies.
