I wonder if this history isn't just a bit of crossed wires, that what the
physician really meant wasn't menopause, it was lactation induced amenorrhea
which was interpreted as "not menstruating" which many for lay people =
"menopause."

(It's sort of like when I would write "Chief complaint: constipation" and a
parent would see it and feel hurt, saying, "I'm not trying to complain, I'm
just concerned about his bowels.")

Also, the hot flashes/dizziness thing sounds more like the immediate post
partum estrogen dive, lactating or not -- but she happened to notice it at
the first pp feed. (My son even now at 12 months is such a warm little
booger, every time I cradle hold him I get way overheated! Sidelying works
better for us.)

Is mom overweight (even a little bit)? Taking 1.5 years to correct
hypothyroidism seems like a pretty long time otherwise. Also, for such hard
to control hypothyroidism, I would expect her to have irregular menses
anyway.
