The discussion of giving public credit to a list of doctors who strongly support breastfeeding is interesting. But I would just like to mention again in case there are LactNetters who are unclear about the term "Baby-Friendly" that it can be used only by maternity facilities that have been assessed according to the Global Criteria for BFHI. It should not be applied to doctors, or clinics, or workplaces, or products, or anything other than designated maternity facilities.
The new UNICEF Breastfeeding website has a statement to this effect, at www.unicef.org/progrmme/breastfeeding/baby.htm
But for all the wonderful breastfeeding helpers out there, and they are increasing in numbers all the time, let's find as many other ways to give them credit as we can, such as:
    Breastfeeding-friendly
    Family-friendly
    Pro-breastmilk
    Breastmilk Champions
or whatever our imaginations can come up with. This lets us keep the Baby-Friendly designation for the more than 15,000 hospitals and delivery services that have earned it.
Thanks to all LactNetters for their continually interesting communications!
Helen
