Sorry if this has already been said-I'm a little behind in my digests due to spending weekends in the 16th Century (Renaissance Faire).  The main reason I have heard and have passed along for not doing this is that if baby doesn't take everytihing in the bottle, then you wind up throwing away some of the precious breastmilk.  If some formula must be used, I usually recommend giving it after EBM so that the EBM won't be wasted.  Of course, in some cases the babies reject the taste of formula and then mom may have to mix the 2 to get baby to take it. Smart kids!
