We have all of our mothers wash with hot soapy water after use.  Rinse
well.  They do not have to steralize.  Even the mothers in the NICU use
one set up and keep it in a plastic basin.  They wash with hot soapy
water (only the parts that touch the milk) and rinse well, air dry on
clean paper towel.  We have been doing this for more than two years and
no increase in infection rate at all.
