Today one of my clients said she was planning on starting solids with her exclusively breastfed baby at 4 months bc of the study below. Her husband is a Type 1 diabetic and is convinced this is the way to go based on this study published last year.

http://www.counselheal.com/articles/5986/20130708/timing-first-solid-food-exposure-crucial-preventing-type-1-diabetes.htm

"The findings revealed that both early (less than 4 months of age) and late (greater than or equal to 6 months of age) first exposure to any solid food was associated with development of T1DM (hazard ratio [HR] 1.91, and HR, 3.02, respectively). "

This makes no sense and I'd hate to see this mom pressured to start solids based on this.

Anyone familiar with the actual study? Was it discussed last year?
