Hi Dr. Jen - I'm far from an expert on this, but I seem to recall in
discussions of diflucan in recent weeks that the treatment should continue
for some period of time AFTER the complete resolution of pain, and often
this is several weeks. It sounds to me like her initial diflucan treatment
was not long enough - she was having some resolution of pain, but treatment
stopped before it was completely gone. Am I recalling this correctly?
Maybe her current course of treatment will resolve the thrush. Is baby
also being treated to avoid chronic re-infection? Are baby toys being
sterilized, frequent hand-washing, other re-infection precautions being
taken? Good luck - this mom is indeed dedicated - 7 kids under 8? She
deserves a medal!!
