I agree that prescribing is not w/i the realm of the IBCLC - yet? Maybe one
day. I believe KB clarified this very well in her post on 1/18 and I agree
that the IBCLC is making the recommendation or should I say suggestion to
the primary HCP.

Re peanuts: I appreciate Barbara W-C stating she has no info on how long it
takes to clear peanut from a mother's system. (If Barbara doesn't have the
info, who would???) This is just to say that alot of the answers to some of
the queries being posted lately are still UNKNOWN.

Ditto for gut closure and the window of opportunity re ingestion of
colostrum by newborn humans: answer UNKNOWN as far as I can see. Very good
post, though, by Sharon? I think whose dtr is the equine specialist re gut
closure for horses w/i 24 - 30 hrs. How do they know this, by the way?
Autopsy? Just curious.

Like I said recently, I STILL HAVE A LOT TO LEARN. Hence my motto which I
say all the time "Live and learn."

Laurie Wheeler, RN, MN, IBCLC - Happy birthday to me! The big 43!
