I couldn't agree more wholeheartedly.  I find so often when someone
brings up the guilt issue and I point out the other areas where we
don't worry about "causing guilt", they then say something like,
"That's different.  She does have an alternative when it comes to
feeding."  This even from HCPs etc who may initially say how much
they "support" breastfeeding and how great they think it is.
However, the defense they give on the guilt question reveals that
they don't really know/accept the significant differences between
breastfeeding and artificial feeding.  It also relates to the
attitude of atrificial feeding being the norm and breastfeeding a
sort of "extra credit".  Therefore, the one change I might make in
June's statement would be to substitute "inferiority of artificial
feeding" for "superiority of breastfeeding".
