I was recently involved with a startlingly similar case.   mothers
family is mexican and monied....fathers family is puerto rican and
similarly priveleged.

everything you describe is exactly the same.   I encouraged them to seek
treatment for what seemed to be a looming anxiety disorder.   she didn't
want to take meds and wanted to got the natural/orthomolecular
route....but it wasn't in the cards - she could barely cope as it
was.    the mom was dx'ed with an anxiety disorder and is being treated.

I was their labor doula and didn't have the availability to do the pp
stuff with them so some of my partners did.....she was soooo
struggling.   she was used to everything being perfect.  always.
impecable.  immaculate.

everything you said rang familiar.  all of it.

sigh.
