As this is my first writing, My name is Maureen Batchelder, RN (IBCLC
candidate) I have been reading the messages for almost 1 month.  I had a
phone call recently from a mother of a 4 month old regarding going to a
tanning salon.  She had a membership prior to pregnancy and asked if she
could use tanning bed while pregnant and she was not able to get any
information from anyone as to it's affects so the owner offered to put a
freeze on her membership until after delivery.  The mom went to tanning
salon 1 time and then nursed her daughter when she returned home.
Afterwards mom had questions about nursing and if UV had any affect on
her breast milk.  (She did not notice any adverse affects in her
daughter)  She has asked the owner, her OB, pede, and LLL, no one had
any information about this.  I have never read or  heard about this
before.  I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this or knows of
mothers who have used tanning beds.  I did suggest that she ask the owner
to freeze her membership until she finds out further information at the
least.  Any suggestions.  TIA
