one more thought,  I attended a LLL conference recently regarding latching
problems and the speaker mentioned a situation almost identical tothis.  The
problem was where the mom placed her hand.  Is this mom's hand on the back of
the baby's head?  It should be supporting the neck and shoulders.  Check to
make sure she isn't holding the babies head.and making the baby feel like
it's being forcefully held.
