I asked a few weeks ago if anyone knew if breastfeeding was protective for GBS infection in neonates. I came across an article that states that it is: http://www.obgyn.net/pb/articles/gbs_part1.htm. The pertinent statement is approximately 3/4 of the way through the article: Since GBS is not passed through breast milk, patients should be advised that breast-feeding can give the baby important antibodies and other factors to help protect the baby from infection. Still haven't found any research to support that but....it just makes sense.
