Genetic scientists might try this but let me tell you that cross species
gestation is technically possible but practically a long way off. Let me
share a recent ancedote I know about in cross species gestation. For years
the diary industry has used invitro fertilization and GIFT (Gamate Intra
Fallopian Transfer) to increase the number of offspring from high production
dairy cows and to improve herd charecteristics. This technology has
benefited many human infertile couples.

I own bison, you know (North American Buffalo) and attended a conference here
in Iowa 9/94 where a Texas vet demonstrated the procedures to recover embryos
from the bison and implant them in to Holstein cows. Well the final result
that is from 5 bison cows, one died from the stress of being in the holding
chute too many times, and of the 5 Holstein cows NO PREGANCIES developed.
This was from a vet that is experienced in doing this with cattle to cattle.
They thought it would work with bison to cattle because they are both BOVINE
species but even that isn't close enough.

I know this is a little further off the topic, but I just wanted to share
this ancedote that it will be a long, long, long time (if ever) before cross
species gestation with humans occurs. And I hope it never does.
