Some degree of difference between breasts, their shape, size, and
production can certainly be considered within the normal range of variation
that is often seen. When a mother in my practice calls about this, one of
the first questions I ask her after she provides her description is, "how
is the baby's growth pattern?" If she affirms that baby is growing well,
providing age-appropriate output and the like, I reassure her that she has
one breast that produces more than the other and not to fret about it. She
is within the normal range.

One mom I worked with had similar sized breasts, but out of one she pumped
only 5 oz in 10; the other routinely offered up 13 oz in the same time
period! She simply changed bottles faster on one side than the other in
order not to overflow the pump she was using when at work! As you might
guess, her baby was a real porker!!! (until she started walking and grew
vertically into all that horizontal growth she started putting on so
quickly!) :-)

Differences in milk production can occur in the absence of breast
shape/size differences. Again, the bottom line (for me, anyway) is the
baby's growth.
