I can understand the frustration and anger felt at the story of the nurse
breastfeeding another woman's child. I think I would be more upset if I
walked in on a stranger formula feeding my infant. (Although NOTHING
would be done to prosecute a nurse who formula fed another woman's
child.) However, until we know the "intent" behind the act of this
nurse, it is far too difficult to rally behind this person. I would
assume that cross-nursing occurs with permission of the parents. I have a
problem with acts that are hidden and permission not requested, regardless
of what those acts are. At the least, this nurse committed a violation of
the trust of her patients and should be disciplined. At the worst, she
committed a crime that should not be ignored regardless of its context.
