   I have to jump in here... having an engineer as a husband, I got the
whole lecture on 'resolution vs. accuracy' after he heard me tell a client
that the scale I use (Babyweigh) was 'accurate' to within .1 oz.  What it
actually says on the scale is that the RESOLUTION is to within .1 oz  (+/-
2 grams)... the ACCURACY, which is listed in the next column, is always
going to be a % of the weight of the baby you are weighing.  In the case
of the Babyweigh, the accuracy is listed as +/- .034% of the weight for
babies between 0-12 lbs; and +/- .042% of the weight for babies 12-14 lbs.
He figured this out to be within about .3 oz for an 8 lb. baby.
     The way he explained it to me was... the resolution simply means what
the scale reads.  You can have a scale with a resolution of .0000001 oz
that can be less accurate than a scale with a resolution of .5 oz.   The
way accuracy is calculated it is ALWAYS going to be a % of the weight (ie.
margin of error).
      All that said, he still said that the Babyweigh IS a very accurate
scale... just not in the way most of us THINK it is!
