You didn't do anything wrong, Priscilla. We have no obligation
to "downplay" any of the truths about breastfeeding because they may be
outside someone's personal "comfy factor." We have no obligation to give
personal weaning permission, especially to someone who didn't go and seek
out private treatment. I doubt the LC at the hospital was the *only* LC in
your area. And was she on vacation for the entire month this other nurse
said she was pumping? In most cases, when a woman really wants to do
*everything* to make BF workd out, she seeks out help from LLL and a
private LC to solve the problem.

Eleanor Rooselvelt once said "No one can make you feel inferior without
your consent." It goes to follow that no one can make you feel "guilty"
without your consent, either. YOUR presentation didn't make this woman feel
anything she didn't already feel.

If you had watered down your message, just because one member of your
audience didn't do all she could to BF, you would have been giviing a less
than optimal message, not only to the other nurses in the group, but to ALL
the women they will work with in the future.

You did nothing wrong. We cannot ignore truths, because some people are
uncomfortable with them.
