Hi all,
I got a question from a mom I'm working with that I wasn't quite sure
how to answer. She's nursing a 5 weeker, lovely weight gain at one month,
good temperment, sleeping well. She has large breasts with copious milk
supply, when she pumps for occasional use she gets 5-6 oz total from both
breasts. Baby nurses appx 8 times a day, with some clustering in evening
and a stretch 5 hours at night. Her question was about his stools, which
are yellow in the morning and green in the afternoon. She does allow him
to nurse as long as possible before switching him, sometimes he will take
only one side per feeding. Do we need to worry about these green stools if
baby is happy and gaining well? And if we do need to worry, why and do you
have any suggestions? My own son who was nursed exclusively for 6 mos, 10
years ago had lots of green stools and thrived and I didn't even know
enough to worry about it. Now I think maybe I know too much! Does
foremilk/hindmilk ratio matter if infant is apparently healthy?
