When I was a grad student in '95, one of my intern projects was to write a pamphlet for pt ed for the bf mom, and to analyze the typical tray to see how close it came to meeting her nutritional needs. It was a Marriott affiliated food service who asked me to do this. So my impression is that hospitals would plan to provide this.
If the baby was formula fed, would the hospital provide the formula and charge it to the patient??? Yes, then paying for a tray is cheaper than 32-36 oz of formula per day. Michelle Scott, MA,RD,IBCLC in NH
