I would look at the whole situation, Laurie, just as you have done. It sounds really good to me and I doubt I would suggest a rental pump. Sometimes I tell moms to use a good manual pump after the feedings, maybe five minutes per breast, maybe 3 times a day. But if we make things too hard on the mom they tend to go to bottle feeding. I would want to know how many bowel movements, if baby is awakening herself for feedings, how many nursings per 24 hours, any formula, etc. If in doubt, a test weight of a feeding will answer the question. Also, I would want to know if the baby was weighed naked or with clothing. I have gotten three babies in a row weighed with clothing on at the doctor's office and suprise! the weight is incorrect and baby was really doing poorly.
